Josh Hutcherson spoke about his anchor tattoo with Access Hollywood.

“I love tattoos,” the 19-year-old told Access Hollywood at The White House Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday.
“I like the traditional kind, like the old Sailor Jerry style,” he explained, referring to the black and red anchor on his mid-section.
The actor, who also has a Libra sign on his wrist, says he’s just getting started when it comes to decorating his body.
“I’m going to get a lot more,” he told Access. “So watch out!”

The HG has made over $600 Million surpassing Harry Potter reports EW! This is great.
Close behind, The Hunger Games dipped by a tiny 23 percent and earned $11.3 million in its sixth weekend on the chart. With a running total of $372.5 million, the franchise-launching blockbuster is now officially performing ahead of the highest-grossing Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which had earned $366 million at the same point in its run. Worldwide, Hunger Games‘ impressive $601 million total doesn’t compare to Potter‘s grosses, but one can only wonder how high numbers will climb by the time The Hunger Games Saga: Catching Fire – Part 2 (Section B) in IMAX 3D finally hits theaters in 2016.

At last night's White House Correspondents' Dinner President Obama made a Hunger Games joke (Skip to 11 minutes)

Still, I guess Governor Romney’s feeling pretty good about things because he took a few hours off the other day to see ‘The Hunger Games’. Some of you have seen it? It’s a movie about people who court wealthy sponsors and then brutally savage each other until only one contestant is left standing. I’m sure this was a really great change of pace for him
Regardless of political standing it was rather cute:)

A courthouse did a mock trial for President Snow on 'take your child to work day.'

A chanting chorus of child jurors on Thursday found President Snow of the nation of Panem guilty of kidnapping, child abuse and other heinous crimes for forcing children into the deadly Hunger Games.
Snow's Stand Your Nation law defense, mirrored after Florida's controversial Stand Your Ground law, held no water with the nearly four dozen young jurors packed into courtroom 418 at the Broward County Courthouse.
The Broward State Attorney's Office on Thursday presented a mock trial with a "Hunger Games" theme for kids who accompanied their parents on "Take Your Child to Work" day. Prosecutor Tim Donnelly, head of the public corruption unit, scripted the courtroom play.
"We just want to expose them to [the system]," Donnelly said. "We're not going to debate philosophy with them; we just want them to have fun and hopefully they retain something."
After seeing the movie little more than a week ago, Donnelly, a father of four, ages 9 to 16, had the idea to adapt the popular young-adult novel and movie into a courtroom play.

The movie takes place in a post-apocalyptic world where, as a harsh reminder of a previous rebellion and to keep the nation's 12 districts in line, 24 boys and girls are randomly selected to compete in a yearly televised death battle called the Hunger Games.Donnelly worked evenings developing The Nation of Panem v. President Coriolanus Snow and recruited fellow prosecutors to play the roles.
"Wanna-Be President Snow is the one who was behind the whole thing," Adriana Alcalde, argued as nation of Panem prosecutor. "We want peace for the districts. We don't want the Hunger Games."
Her star witness, head gamekeeper Seneca Crane, played by Tony Loe, complete with a shiny black, curlicue beard (applied with hair dye), testified in exchange for a plea deal that would send him to prison for two to five years for his part in the games.
"Everything I did was because he told me to do so," he said, referring to Snow as an "evil man."
And Snow, aka Broward's head homicide prosecutor, Brian Cavanagh, indignantly took the stand in his own defense: "I think I am the victim of the ultimate political prosecution."
The Stand Your Nation law, he said, allows the use of deadly force to prevent imminent death or great bodily harm to defend the nation.
The Hunger Games maintain law and order, he bellowed. "We would have pandemonium in Panem, otherwise."
The chants of "guilty, guilty, guilty" grew in volume and enthusiasm as Cavanagh retreated from the witness stand to the defense table.
A guilty verdict, Snow's defense attorney, Donnelly, argued would not put an end to the Hunger Games.
"All you're going to be doing is punishing an old man for following the law," he said before falling to his knees and begging, "Please don't find him guilty."
The guilty chant, accompanied by clapping, grew louder, louder, louder.
Snow's punishment: 5,000 hours of community service, wash the judge's car and drive her to her hair appointment.

The Wall Street Journal discussed The Hunger Games DVD and Francis Lawrence.

As "The Hunger Games" approaches $400 million in domestic box office receipts, the studio behind the film is busy plotting the series' three remaining installments—and already running into a few hurdles.
In addition to hunting for a new director, Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. LGF +0.24% is working to develop a script for the second film, "Catching Fire." The studio must also plan "The Hunger Games" home-video release and figure out how to roll out the remaining three films in a way that dovetails with the finale of the "Twilight Saga" franchise, which Lions Gate acquired when it bought Summit Entertainment.
For "Catching Fire," now in preproduction and expected to hit theaters in fall 2013, Lions Gate—also known as Lionsgate—lost the director of the first film, Gary Ross, who issued a statement earlier this month saying he couldn't work on the studio's time table.

Lions Gate, which said at the time that it was sorry Mr. Ross had chosen not to direct the film, is now close to a deal with Francis Lawrence, whose previous projects include "I Am Legend" and "Constantine," according to people familiar with the matter.
Given the monumental success of the first film in the series, Lions Gate has at stake the potential for billions at the box office and beyond. "The Hunger Games," which cost $80 million to make, has grossed $360.2 million at the domestic box office during its first five weeks, with world-wide receipts now totaling $577 million. And it became the first film since 2009's "Avatar" to top the box office for four consecutive weeks.
"It's an anchor tenant" for the next several years, said Lions Gate Vice Chairman Michael Burns, referring to the series.
That performance may help Lions Gate join the elite ranks of Hollywood's most powerful entities—the six studios known in the industry as "majors." Speaking at this week's CinemaCon trade show, John Fithian, president of the National Association of Theatre Owners, noted that "The Hunger Games" had the biggest March opening ever, at the same time that Lions Gate acquired rival independent studio Summit.

Elizabeth Banks and Jennifer Lawrence in a scene from 'The Hunger Games.'
"We may just be witnessing the arrival of a seventh" major movie studio, Mr. Fithian said.
One issue that is under control: All the primary "Hunger Games" cast members are signed up for the entire four-film series, so none are likely to follow Mr. Ross to the exit.
But the studio has yet to finalize a script, now being written by "Slumdog Millionaire" writer Simon Beaufoy. The author of the series, Suzanne Collins, will have input, as she did with the script for the first film.
"I would call it a collaborative effort," said Rob Friedman, Lions Gate motion picture group co-chair, referring to Ms. Collins's participation. "Suzanne has always been very, very involved."
The massive success of "The Hunger Games" will doubtless create momentum for the sequels—a good thing for the studio, since it probably won't be able to rely on the same marketing playbook it used for the first film.
A central component of the marketing strategy for "The Hunger Games" was boosting book sales, particularly as new titles in the series were rolled out. With no new titles remaining, Lions Gate will focus on pumping up book sales internationally, in hopes that it can draw an even more global viewership for "Catching Fire," Mr. Friedman said.
The studio will also rely on the DVD release of "The Hunger Games" to fuel anticipation for "Catching Fire," a strategy it credits with helping make the second "Twilight" film an even bigger success than the first. Due to the first film's exceptional box office performance, the studio is considering pushing the DVD release to five months after its theatrical opening, as opposed to the usual four-month window, according to people familiar with the matter. That time frame would also allow it to take advantage of back-to-school momentum in the retail environment.
Mr. Friedman vows to be "very aggressive" in pushing DVDs at Wal-Mart Stores Inc. WMT +0.14% and other retail outlets.
Still, while plans proceed full-steam-ahead for "Catching Fire," Mr. Friedman cautioned against looking too far into the future. "We're still in the afterglow" of "The Hunger Games," he said, before quickly correcting himself. "We're still performing great, so we're still in the glow, I should say."

15 year old Eilish is halfway through making a Hunger Games graphic novel NewsTimes reports.

n September 2010, in her eighth-grade English class at Immanuel Lutheran School in Danbury, Eilish Nobes was assigned to read "The Hunger Games" -- the best-selling novel by Newtown author Suzanne Collins, which has since been made into a movie that is now showing in theaters.
"If it wasn't for that assignment, I probably wouldn't have ever picked up the book (which is part of a trilogy) because I thought it was about birds. On the cover of all three `Hunger Games' books is a picture of a bird," said Eilish, who is now 15.
Not only did she read the book, by the end of that summer she had read the entire series. She enjoyed the stories so much she created a graphic novel from the first five chapters of the trilogy.
She plans to eventually complete a graphic novel for the rest of the book.
In a recent interview at her home, Eilish spoke about her passion for art and her fascination with the "Hunger Games" trilogy.
Q: You are so talented! Your work is amazing and so detailed. How long have you been interested in art?
A: I've been drawing since I was in kindergarten. In elementary school, I started drawing comic book characters and began coming up with my own characters. In middle school, I would draw pictures of movie stars and such.
My drawing of a lion became my school's mascot in the school newspaper. On a wall in the science building at my high school, I designed a seascape mural.
Q: What is a graphic novel? How did you make this?
A: It's in between a comic book and an actual novel. It has all the comic strip components in that it has many pictures, but it also has enough words and storytelling to resemble a novel.
To make the graphic novel, I first took a pencil and underlined whatever I thought was important in the book. Then I wrote those words in my novel.
Since the book has no pictures, I based what the characters look like on my own imagination. As long as you have a good story line to it, it doesn't matter what the picture is. You just have to be creative.
Q: Why are you so interested in "The Hunger Games?" I hear you have already seen the movie four times.
A: Well, I was also into the "Twilight" and the Percy Jackson series and created a lot of graphic pictures and scenes from these series.
Yet I connected with Katniss' character (in "The Hunger Games") more than the others, because she's a strong character who doesn't change what she believes.
I love being a tomboy like her, and I don't care what people think of me. I dress and wear what I like. I read books and watch shows that I like, even if they are not the same as my friends.
I also like the adventure in the movie and the guys!
Q: Would you like to have a career in art one day?
A: I would like to work in the movie business. I would design the set and costumes or be an animator. I am absolutely in love with show business. It's kind of cool to see what the crew does behind the scenes.

Willow Shield was the Grand Marshall of a parade in San Antonio and she stopped by to do an interview with Kens5.
“We never thought it was going to be this huge,” Shields said.
The movie’s quarter-billion dollar success has propelled 12-year-old Shields into the national spotlight. She’s making red carpet appearances, giving interviews and, this weekend, taking in San Antonio’s sights.
This is Shields’ first visit to Fiesta. “This is my first time in Texas, so I’m super-excited,” she said.
She’ll serve as the Grand Marshal for the Fiesta Flambeau parade Saturday night.
Shields said the movie definitely has changed her life away from home in New Mexico.
There, she said she’s just like any other pre-teen who studies and hangs out with friends. Getting recognized in public still feels odd.
“We never thought I’d be walking in the airport and someone yells out, ‘Look, it’s Willow Shields.’ It’s really funny to experience that,” she said, giggling.

The Hunger Games takes up a majority of the top highlighted phrases. 8/10 top phrases are from The Hunger Games.
10) I am not pretty. I am not beautiful. I am as radiant as the sun. (Katniss, The Hunger Games)
9) “Having an eye for beauty isn’t the same thing as a weakness,” Peeta points out. “Except possibly when it comes to you.” (Peeta, Catching Fire)
7) Life in District 12 isn’t really so different from life in the arena. At some point, you have to stop running and turn around and face whoever wants you dead. (Katniss, Catching Fire)
6) “I wish I could freeze this moment, right here, right now, and live in it forever,” he says. (Peeta, Catching Fire)
5) “I just want to spend every possible minute of the rest of my life with you,” Peeta replies. (Peeta, Catching Fire)
4) It takes ten times as long to put yourself back together as it does to fall apart. (Finnick, Mockingjay)
2) The rules of the Hunger Games are simple. In punishment for the uprising, each of the twelve districts must provide one girl and one boy, called tributes, to participate. The twenty-four tributes will be imprisoned in a vast outdoor arena that could hold anything from a burning desert to a frozen wasteland. Over a period of several weeks, the competitors must fight to the death. The last tribute standing wins. (Katniss, The Hunger Games)
1) Because sometimes things happen to people and they’re not equipped to deal with them. (Katniss, Catching Fire) One of my favorite ones!
What do you think about them? What have you highlighted in your Kindle.

Movies.com did a great must knows list about Catching Fire, Victory Tour, and Quarter Quell and its tributes.

The Hunger Games Schedule
As you saw in The Hunger Games, it’s pretty hot and arid in District 12 during Reaping time. After the tributes are selected, they’re whisked right off to the Capitol and, mere weeks later, are thrown into the games. Therefore, the Hunger Games are a summertime event for Panem. But, of course, the whole point of the Hunger Games is to remind the districts of and punish them for the rebellion. There’s no way President Snow would let that be a mere once-a-year deal. In Catching Fire, we find out that there’s much more to the Hunger Games than the Games itself.
We reunite with Katniss after the Games as she’s prepping for The Victory Tour. As Katniss describes, the tour is “strategically placed almost midway between the annual Games, it is the Capitol’s way of keeping the horror fresh and immediate.” That means the Victory Tour goes down during the wintertime, which matches Katniss’ wardrobe, as she notes that her prep team only readies her hands and face, “probably because everything else will be covered in the cold weather.”
So now, what is this Victory Tour? It’s basically what it sounds like, a district tour for the victors. The event always kicks off in District 12, but the district the Hunger Games winner (or winners) call home is always saved for last, so this time around, Peeta and Katniss begin in District 11. After hitting every single district, the winners wind up in the Capitol where there’s a big party in President Snow’s banquet room. Last stop on the trip is home sweet home, District 12, for the Harvest Festival. District 12 always celebrates the occasion at the end of the Victory Tour, as much as their means allow, but because the Capitol is hosting the bash this year, “everyone in the whole district will have full bellies.”
Even though the games are still months away, this year it’s a Quarter Quell, so the festivities are amped up quite a bit. The Quarter Quell happens every 25 years and is meant to honor the anniversary of the Hunger Games, and, of course, to ensure the citizens of Panem never forget the bloodshed of the rebellion. So, rather than have your standard Reaping just before the tributes are taken to the Capitol, the reading of the card happens months before the games. In a short ceremony, President Snow takes to the stage, gives a quick speech and then dips his hand into a wooden box, pulls out the yellow envelop for the third quarter quell and reveals what horror lies ahead. For the first quarter quell, districts were forced to vote on who to send into the games and for the second one, they were required to send in double the amount of tributes. Wait until you see what the parameters are this time around.
A New Home and Life
After you win the Hunger Games, you bunk down in Victor’s Village, a little community made up of 12 houses big enough to hold ten people. But, considering Haymitch, Peeta and Katniss are District 12’s only victors, only three houses are occupied. And even then, Katniss much prefers sneaking off to her old house in the Seam.
Another perk of being a Hunger Games victor is that you’re rich. Katniss even notes “she has buckets of money” and much more than she needs to sustain her family.
New Faces
Plutarch Heavensbee: If you’ve seen The Hunger Games, you know it doesn’t end well for Seneca Crane, so President Snow is in need of a new Head Gamemaker and that’s where Plutarch Heavensbee comes in.
The New Careers: With Marvel, Glimmer, Cato and Clove long gone, District 1 and 2 must send in new tributes who, of course, are destined to form the infamous career pack. In the 75th Hunger Games that group is comprised of the brother-sister duo from District 1, Gloss and Cashmere, and Brutus of District 2, who’s particularly excited about the opportunity to kill in the arena and his co-tribute Enobaria, someone who I imagine to have a pretty wicked smile.
Beetee: When you come from the district responsible for Panem’s electronics, odds are you’re not much of a fighter. However, Beetee’s intelligence undoubtedly makes him a force to be reckoned with. With a knack for manipulating electricity, you'd better mind Beetee’s snares.
Finnick Odair: Talk about a juicy role for a hot young actor. Finnick isn’t only a strong fighter, but he’s “tall, athletic, with golden skin and bronze-color hair” as well as what Katniss calls “incredible eyes.” On top of being the ultimate eye candy, Finnick hails from District 4, so knows a thing or two about swimming, fishing and working with a trident.
Johanna Mason: As charming as Finnick is, is as off-putting as Johanna Mason can be. She’s brash, not inhibited in the least and always says what’s on her mind. She’s from District 7, the one responsible for exporting lumber, so her weapon of choice is an ax, making her quite deadly in the arena.
The Hawthorne Family: This time around, we spend a little more time in District 12 so, naturally, Catching Fire features more Gale than The Hunger Games and that means his family comes to the forefront as well. Gale’s passed his Hunger Games years and that means he works full time in the mines. While that brings in an income, it’s far from enough. His mother Hazelle does laundry to support Gale’s siblings, 12-year-old Rory, 10-year-old Vick and 4-year-old Posy. Thanks to her Hunger Games win, Katniss has more than enough money to sustain her family as well as Gale’s, but Gale “won’t take a single coin.” However, now that Gale’s in the mines all day, Hazelle accepts the game Katniss brings in during her now solo hunting expeditions.
Potential Changes
Of course nobody wants any parts of a beloved book to be cut from a film adaptation, but as we saw in the film version of The Hunger Games, it’s necessary and sometimes beneficial. In the case of Catching Fire, I’d imagine one of the first elements to go will be Bonnie and Twill. While their inclusion is key to the transition into the third book, rumblings of the rebellion can be found elsewhere, making their meeting in the woods with Katniss somewhat expendable.
Ripper may be the most important person in Haymitch’s life, but the district booze supplier will very likely go unnamed in the Catching Fire movie, as will Leevy, a former neighbor of Katniss’ who lends a hand during a particularly trying time. There’s also quite a bit of talk about Maysilee Donner, Haymitch’s fellow tribute during his games, and while she does have a connection with a few Hunger Games characters that are already well-established, as far as Catching Fire goes, her influence might not be strong enough to warrant a mention.
Any must-know, non-spoiler Catching Fire facts I missed? Help fill in all the newcomers in the comments section below.

The executives of Lionsgate and Summit will stay and work together reports Deadline.

One of the biggest question marks since Lionsgate merged with Summit has been what would happen to their two veteran marketing heads, Tim Palen and Nancy Kirkpatrick. So here’s what’s been decided because the two companies have a big slate of films coming: Tim Palen has just been given a new long-term deal as Chief Marketing Officer at Lionsgate, which is the title he already holds. And Summit’s President of Worldwide Marketing Nancy Kirkpatrick will continue in her role. Included on their individual plates are more Hunger Games films for Lionsgate as well the finale of the Twilight Saga, Breaking Dawn Part 2, for Summit. I think it’s a smart decision to keep the two marketing groups especially since the two labels are still separate for now and the forseeable future, if for no other reasons than you’d hate to see either of these two pros go to the competition. And if the two labels ever become one, then Palen and Kirkpatrick should have a Fight Club brawl — and I’ll be there to watch.

Hickory Daily Record reports that the Hildebran District Twelve set will be feautured on Syfy channel!

The SyFy Channel was at the village on Tuesday filming an episode of the second season of “Hollywood Treasures,” and the show’s host, Joe Maddalena, was at the village looking for anything left behind from the movie.
The show is a documentary reality show based on Maddalena’s life as he travels the world hunting down Hollywood treasures to sell at auction. Maddalena has been hunting treasures for 26 years and owns a business in Los Angeles, “Profiles in History.”
Maddalena said the episode also could help the property’s owner, Wade Shepherd, sell the village that stood as the home for “The Hunger Games” heroine Katniss Everdeen.
He talked about how beautiful the property is and how people may have the misconception that it’s in the middle of nowhere.
“I think that’s one thing we’ll do on the show is convey how amazing this property is and how amazing this location is,” Maddalena said. “It’s like out of a Norman Rockwell painting.”
Maddalena added, “It’s just a nice experience.”

Zooey interviewed Dayo (Thresh) about acting, music, and more!

The best part of my job, is just getting a chance to work with people that you admire so much. It’s a really fortunate job. I love my job. Film is such an old media, that there are people who have been doing this for such a long time and are still doing it. And people that grew up admiring the characters that were played on screen and to actually get a chance to meet them and work with them. Working with people like Woody Harrelson and Donald Sutherland, people who are so awesome at what they do, it’s incredible.
Getting a chance to do something that really touches people. Sometimes you think of film as such a trivial thing. But there are movies that change people’s lives. People leave movie theaters and have completely changed the way they live. If somebody comes to me and says, ‘your movie made me think of something differently’ or ‘I watch your movie whenever I have a bad day,’ I would love that.
One thing on my bucket list is to win an Academy Award. It’s always work related, because I love acting so much. Work with Will Smith. Work with J.J. Abrams. Work with Steven Spielberg. I could go on and on.
My biggest guilty pleasure is Food Network. I watch everything on Food Network. It’s pretty embarrassing, but I love it (and my roommates hate it)! I watch Chopped. I watch Iron Chef and Man vs. Food. I watch everything. It’s kind of bad, but I am proud of it.
The most played song (at the moment) on my iPhone is probably Drake’s “We’ll Be Fine.” I cannot live without my Iphone.
When I have free time, I just like hanging out with friends. I’m old school. I just hang with the boys. We are either playing videogames or hanging out at the bar. Or, we just watch sports all day. Lately, though, I don’t have a lot of free time, not much time to just chill, but when I do, I just like hanging out with friends.
I love rollercoasters. So, if I could plan the perfect day, I would just wake up really early, drive somewhere where they have a ton of roller coasters, and ride roller coasters until I throw up. There’s this place in Indiana called Cedar Point, they have the best rides in the world! I just like doing group events. Like, I would go put-put golfing, hitting balls at the golf range, shooting… I just like fun-filled events.
One thing people don’t know about me is that sleeping is my favorite pastime. I love to sleep. I’m also half Kenyan, and half Nigerian.
The most fun memory I have is traveling with my family. My parents were so adamant that my siblings and I got the chance to travel a lot. When we were young, even though we never had a lot of money, we would go to Europe all the time, or to Central America. Because I grew up in Nigeria, we’d go to Kenya. We’d travel a lot. We didn’t really have money, but we just got the chance to go to places and see stuff that you learn about in school. Those are the best times of my life. I love my family, so those are memories that we look back on years later
My father is my biggest inspiration. His story is amazing. He didn’t own a pair of shoes until he was sixteen years old, that’s just to let you know. And to be where I am today, it’s everything to him. He completely changed his life. He is the complete definition of the “self-made” individual. All he wanted in life was for his family to live a better life than he did.
My obsession right now is Jeremy Lin. I am obsessed with that guy right now. The Lin-sanity situation. And he’s such a humble guy. It’s a classic story, the guy they just called off the bench and he comes in and completely dominates the game. He is my current obsession. I want to be Jeremy Lin. I wasn’t even a Knicks fan, but now I find myself rooting for the Knicks. It’s kind of crazy.
I love…women. Women are the best thing on the planet. I also love shoes.
My pet peeves… I hate hair in the sink. I can’t handle that. Like, if there is hair… eww. I just hate a clogged sick, it’s so gross.
The words that I live by are “your dreams are a preview of life’s coming attractions.” Albert Einstein said that. I live my life by that. I’m a huge believer in that you really can create what you want to create in your life. You are the architect of your life. You shouldn’t live your life like you are an effect of what is happening to you. Rather, you should be affecting what is happening in your life. And that phrase to me really defines that. If you can think it, and wrap your mind around it, you can achieve it. As soon as I started thinking that way, I feel like my life has extremely different. And I live my life by that every day. Like if you want something, just go get it. Period.

About.com spoke with Josh Hutcherson about upcoming movie Detention and The Hunger Games! Will you be seeing Detention?  My favorite line was about kissing Jennifer Lawrence:)

Hutcherson – currently impressing audiences as ‘Peeta’ in the blockbuster hit, The Hunger Games - talked about taking on the lead role in Detentionand his job as executive producer on the project. He also talked about skateboarding, being homeschooled, figuring out how to ground his character in reality while crazy things happen around him, and, of course, even a little bit about one of 2012′s biggest films, The Hunger Games.
Were there any references in the movie that you think audiences might not get?
Josh Hutcherson: ”There were definitely some references that are very specific. There are a few that I myself didn’t get and that, I think, is what makes this movie really unique. I think there are a few people out there that will get them, and that will make it even more special for them. The important thing is that a lot of it is references that people will get, and then for those special few out there, they get bonus references on the side.”
Detention has the potential to be a horror comedy version of The Breakfast Club. What are your thoughts on that?
Josh Hutcherson: ”I think it definitely references The Breakfast Club, for sure. I think this movie has so many different things happening in it – pretty much every genre that exists. To me, it’s like Back to the Future mixed with The Breakfast Club mixed with Scream. Those are kind of three that I feel this movie is represented by.”
Are you an avid skateboarder in real life or did you just do that for the movie?
Josh Hutcherson: ”I don’t really do it much. I can. It apparently helped that I had some skateboarding history for the film. But I definitely stepped it up quite a bit when it came time to film. But I actually had to ride a unicycle for the movie; there’s one shot where I go down the hallway in the high school and I took a few weeks to really train hard to get the unicycle down pat.”
Between The Hunger Games and Detention you’ve done a lot of fighting for your life recently onscreen. Have you picked up any real life skills?
Josh Hutcherson: ”Oh yeah, for sure. I learn something new with every single role. I think that with Detention I learned that in high school although there’s different types of people and cliques and whatnot, I think that everybody has their problems. So, many not so much about survival but I definitely learned more about myself as a person.”
Are you and Jennifer Lawrence going to beat Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart at the MTV Movie Awards in the Best Kiss category?
Josh Hutcherson: [Laughing] “I don’t know anything about that. It was a good kiss, I’m not going to lie. We’ll see what happens. I’m not sure.”
What were the highlights of your Hunger Games tour?
Josh Hutcherson: ”I mean, the traveling has been crazy. The mall tour was absolute madness. Just seeing all the fans and just seeing how passionate they were, that was definitely a highlight for me.”

NextMovie discussed why Francis Lawrence is the perfect fit for Catching Fire.
We admit, Francis Lawrence's name didn’t immediately spring to mind when we were mulling over which director(s) should take over "Catching Fire" once "The Hunger Games" director Gary Ross bowed out.
Now that he's the chosen one and has been offered the gig by Lionsgate, though, we think the selection makes a whole lotta sense. Hear us out.
First of all, there are some serious time constraints to be considered with "Catching Fire." The very reason Gary Ross declined the job of helming the film, he said, was that he wouldn't have enough time to properly prepare the movie to his liking.
"Catching Fire" has to begin production this August to accommodate potential actor scheduling conflicts and to meet the Nov. 22, 2013 release date scheduled by Lionsgate.
For Gary Ross, the idea of readying the film for production would likely include a heavy re-drafting process on the script – which was originally penned by "Slumdog Millionaire" and "127 Hours" writer Simon Beaufoy – before moving forward on anything else. That's because Ross is even more accomplished under his screenwriting hat than behind the lens and always has a major hand in the scripts he shoots from Fox
Not so for Francis Lawrence. Unlike Ross, Lawrence isn't known for his screenplay-writing acumen and would be more likely to work from Beaufoy's script; this leaves plenty of time to economize on the other pre-production efforts which will be involved – casting, set-scouting, and production design to name a few. In other words, the span between now and August looks a lot more supple when you've got a working script at the ready rather than just a first draft.
What do you think of NextMovie's points? And do you think Lawrence is perfect for Catching Fire?

Greg Wells (Producer of HG Soundtrack) talked with PopMatters about The Hunger Games.

As for the The Hunger Games: Songs From District 12 and Beyond, “It was T-Bone’s idea to bring in another producer that was more in line with Top 40 radio, which sometimes I am, sometimes I’m not,” Wells says. “But I made it to the top of his list of who he should talk to.” The first task Burnett gave Wells was creating a version of the Taylor Swift/Civil Wars song, “Safe and Sound”, that would be different than the version on the soundtrack, and more appropriate for Top 40 radio.
Wells explains, “[Burnett] said, ‘I’m not going to come watch you work, I’m not going to sit over your shoulder. I think you should just take these vocals and take this main acoustic guitar track, and just do what feels right to you. When you feel like the cake is baked, or baked enough, I’ll come by your studio and give it a listen.’
“So that’s exactly what I did, I just followed my nose. And that’s pretty much what I do with whoever I’m working with. I try not to overthink things, I just sort of lead with my gut feeling. There were some rhythm elements in his original version that I really liked that sneak in toward the end, kind of a rolling, marching snare drum thing, and I thought ‘Maybe we can start the song with something like that.’ It was important to me to have the same kind of intention and feeling that his version did. I didn’t want it to sound like apples and oranges. I just wanted to give it a bit more momentum. Then they came by and really liked it, and everyone, including Taylor, encouraged me to take it even further, and up the energy even more. And I’m quite proud with how it turned out.”
However, the real gem of the soundtrack is the Kid Cudi song, “The Ruler and the Killer”, which Wells co-wrote with Cudi and Burnett. The track has been universally hailed as the highlight of the album, and Wells knew it was special the moment the song was born.

Although we have already selected the song suggestion of the week, we decided to do a special segment on our most commonly suggested song suggestions.

If I Die Young is the type of song that everybody recommends (a bit like how Alex Pettyfer pops up everywhere). Sometimes they put Katniss with the song, but more often Prim or Rue. While this song is haunting and beautiful, I do not believe it is right for The Hunger Games. The lines about satin, rivers, and roses eliminate it from Hunger Games song suggestions. The tone of the song does not go well enough.

"If I die young bury me in satin, lay me down in a bed of roses, sink me in a river". (If I Die Young, Band Perry)
Satin: Expensive and not likely something Prim or Rue would ask for.
Roses: Do I have to explain?
 Rivers: It could fit but....

For some reason Taylor Swift seems to be stealing Katniss, Peeta's, and Gale's diaries. A LOT of her songs go with The Hunger Games in one way or another, but Long Live gets suggested most often. While Taylor Swift is an exceptional role model and Safe and Sound is amazing...A LOT of her works are too sweet and does not go with The Hunger Games.

Note: Change and Haunted are on  our song suggestions page.

Fences by Paramore is our most suggested song. We think Fences is a great song for The Hunger Games. Fences seems to describe Katniss Everdeen perfectly.
