Some photos from what appear to be President Snow's Mansion have been  circulating the web. I always imagined Snow's mansion too be a bit more futuristic.

JENNIFER: BEST RISING STAR

Nominated by: Zephyr Basine
The College Fashion blogger singled out actress Jennifer Lawrence as the star under 25 with the hottest style. “She doesn’t let the clothes wear her,” Basine says of the designer looks Lawrence picked for theHunger Games press tour. And with ensembles ranging from this backless gold gown to her copper lace sheath (both Prabal Gurung), she shows total command of style for someone so young.

Episode 33 of the Nightlock Podcast has been released. You can watch it here.
Summary:
We announce the casting of Beetee and a contest from Lionsgate. We dicuss all the new paparazzi photos of the cast members in costume. We analyze Chapter 7 of Catching Fire and some questions arise. Would Katniss have ended up with Gale if she wasn't entered in the Hunger Games? What if Katniss died in the Hunger Games? If she did, would Peeta have resorted to drinking like Haymitch? If she did, would there have been an uprising? We feature a Fun. song and relate it to the Games. In our What if... segment we discuss how the story and fan demographics would be different if Katniss was a boy.

The Examiner has posted the ten scenes they are looking forward to see in the Catching Fire movie.
10. Arena Force Field
Fans agree, the force field is an important part of the Hunger Games arena in Catching Fire, and they're excited to see how it's portrayed on the big screen. Even more than the force field itself, fans want to see the moment when Peeta gets electrocuted.
"It just opens the door for so many things," fan Jacqueline wrote. "We get to see parts of Katniss's emotions that she typically would not express because she usually tries to hide those sorts of things. Katniss's shock at Finnick giving Peeta CPR because it isn't common where she's grown up. And just Finnick's reaction to Katniss's because up until that point he'd thought of their romance as just an act."
9. A Blossoming Romance
Fans are also looking forward to some of the sweeter, smaller moments in the story that indicate a growing romance between Katniss and Peeta -- such as the train ride through the districts, in which Katniss finds comfort by snuggling with Peeta at night. (Awww.) Another fan favorite is when Peeta gives the pearl to Katniss when they are back in the arena.
"It shows the love they share is strong and nothing can tear their love for each other apart," said Hunger Games fan Tabitha Torres Dolar.
8. The Tour
Of course, Catching Fire won't be the same without the Victory Tour that takes Peeta and Katniss to the other districts in Panem. Expect emotional scenes in District 11, and a glimpse at life beyond just District 12 and the Capitol.
7. The Whipping
Catching Fire finally gives Gale (Liam Hemsworth) some more screen time. If we're lucky, we might even get to see some more of his family members. He's also the focus of one of the story's most intense scenes, a whipping by the Peacekeepers.
"That will be hard to watch!" wrote one anonymous fan.
6. A Presidential (Snow) Visit
We only saw a very brief interaction between Katniss and President Snow at the end of The Hunger Games, but a bigger encounter is ahead in Catching Fire -- and fans can't wait to see the moment when Snow pays a visit to Katniss's new home in the Victor's Village area of District 12.
"I love all the tension in that scene and am really excited to see it come to life," wrote fan Megan Kanyo. "It's the first scene in the books when you see them really face off. And what they say in that scene sets the ground for an important decision Katniss makes in Mockingjay. It really is just this amazing scene where you see a rebellion start to take form. Jennifer Lawrence and Donald Sutherland are both wonderful actors who I'm sure will do it justice."
5. Tropical Paradise Lost
"The scenes that I'm probably looking forward to the most are the beach scenes on the tropical island during the Quell," wrote fan Corey Paxton.
The Hunger Games arena has a noticeably different look in Catching Fire. A tropical arena featuring a large body of water is "no place for a girl on fire," as Katniss notes in the book. Though some of these scenes will likely be filmed on a sound stage, production will head to Hawaii later this year to shoot some moments on location.
4. Finnick Odair
Can you say "sugar cubes"? Yes, fans are anxious to catch any glimpse at Sam Claflin in character as Finnick Odair, but it's likely his first encounter with Katniss that will really make a mark, when he's clad in a barely-there fishing net costume, and offers her some sugar cubes.
3. The Wedding Dress
Cinna's latest masterpiece is Katniss's wedding dress -- which later turns into a dramatic, fashionable interpretation of a Mockingjay (the symbol of the rebellion). Cinna's fashionable creation gets a lot of attention from the citizens of Panem -- and, unfortunately, from President Snow. As readers know, Cinna pays the ultimate price for his act of rebellion.
2. The Quarter Quell Reaping
The Reaping in The Hunger Games was easily one of the most emotionally charged scenes in the first movie -- and if we get a glimpse at the Reaping in both District 12 and beyond, the Reaping in Catching Fire could be even more intense. Can you imagine, especially, the moment when little old Mags volunteers to save a hysterical Annie from returning to the arena?
1. Peeta's Interview Bombshell
Easily one of the most anticipated scenes in Catching Fire is when Peeta drops yet another bombshell during his interview with Caesar Flickerman. In The Hunger Games, he whipped up a frenzy by confessing his love for Katniss Everdeen -- but he outdoes himself in Catching Fire by announcing that he and Katniss wed in secret, and that she's pregnant.

Elisabeth Banks talked about Effie and the Hunger Games with Express.co.uk
“Well, I frankly ripped off Rosalind Russell in the 1958 comedy Auntie Mame,” she admits.
“She’s one of my favourite actresses and that is one of my favourite performances. I also rewatched The Philadelphia Story because I like to remind myself of the pacing of these older films and that helped me find Effie’s voice. I knew that I wanted this kind of theatricality and the sound of the movies from the 40s but it took a few takes to feel like I was really living in her voice. The director [Gary Ross] was very patient with me.”

“I understand why people make the comparisons because there’s a female protagonist and two guys, but they are also very different. Although the Twilight films are fun to watch I don’t know what they are saying about life generally.
“They are almost so fantastical that I’m not sure what you hold on to other than the love story. Whereas The Hunger Games is about so many things. It says something about society.”

Glamour talks six reasons why they cannot wait for Hunger Games: Catching Fire!

1. Sam Clafflin as Finnick Odair!
I know that some of you barely know who he is but trust me--Sam is the perfect balance of sexy, confident and caring to pull off the trident wielding tribute from District Four. I can't wait to see the first images of Sam shirtless and fierce--with that strong trident in hand!
2. The "Arena" is Being Filmed in the Jungles and Beaches of Hawaii
I do not want to give anything away for those of you not caught up on the books or only following the series via the movies. But trust me, that setting couldn't be more awesome for what lies ahead for our fearless tributes!
3. More Screen Time for Liam Hemsworth!
Whether you're Team Peeta or Team Gale, you have to admit that Team Gale fans got hardly any love in the Hunger Games! If Catching Fire does right by us, we should get a better taste of the Katniss, Peeta, Gale love triangle!
4. Jena Malone as Johanna Mason = Genius
If you saw Jena in some of her earlier and edgier movies like Saved! and Donnie Darko, then you know that she's a serious actress who can play dark, edgy and sarcastic without missing a beat. She's perfect for the scrappy Johanna--I can't wait to see her go at it with Katniss--and give Jena the breakout role she deserves!
5. More Theatrics from Stanley Tucci as Caeser Flickerman
I loved every minute Caesar winked at the audience and stirred the pot with his personal questions for the tributes in his sparkly suits and outrageous Capitol hair. So happy that he's back to make Katniss open up even more. And of course, I can't wait for the return of Woody Harrleson as Haymitch and Donald Sutherland as President Snow. But, can we just talk about Philip Seymour Hoffman as Gamemaker Plutarch Heavensbee? Amazing.
6. Jennifer Lawrence
She was out at the Toronto International Film Festival rocking new dark brown locks, ready to get back into Katniss mode. I thought she really embodied what Katniss is all about in movie number one and can't wait to see how she plays it when Katniss steps up as a true symbol of hope in Catching Fire!

MTV shares their hopes, dreams, and fears for Catching Fire (which started filming yesterday.)
Our Hopes
Director Gary Ross proved himself exceptionally loyal to "The Hunger Games" source material when he gave us the series' first film — going so far as to collaborate with author Suzanne Collins — and we hope Francis Lawrence will be similarly true to the books as he brings "Catching Fire" to life. But Ross also knew when the cinema offered important, useful opportunities to deviate from his source material, and this movie needs the same touch: namely, by forgoing the extended flashbacks to book one and dishing up more character development in its place. The relationship between Katniss and Gale, for instance, got short shrift in the first movie and needs more attention on this go-round in order to spotlight and encapsulate the heroine's conflict — not between this guy or that guy, but between the safety of her past and the uncertainty of a revolutionary future. Also: more behind-the-scenes glimpses of President Snow at his evil best will make him a more compelling villain.
Our Dreams
Knowing more or less what will happen in "Catching Fire," the only place for unfounded speculation is all about the how of bringing it to life. And without giving away too much, it's the settings where we're pinning our most no-holds-barred fantasies: the arena for the 75th Hunger Games, and its peculiar traps and tricks, could be an extravaganza that blows its predecessor out of the water. And if there's one thing we know about Lawrence, it's that his background in music videos shows that he has the artistic vision to make this movie heart-stoppingly, jaw-droppingly awesome from a visual standpoint.
Our Fears
Like anyone who loved the books, we are seriously scurred of seeing a favorite scene get lost in translation or a favorite character get chopped. And when it comes to the latter, the risk of a movie-ruining mistake is bigger than ever before; the alliances that form in the Quarter Quell arena are vital to both the emotional core of this story, as well as the larger themes of the franchise. Or, in other words, if the other tributes don't get enough screen time, "Catching Fire" risks being nothing more than another flat action flick with no soul instead of the portrait of a nascent revolution that we all know it could be

Elisabeth Shue talks working with Jennifer Lawrence on House on the end of the Street with Entertainment Weekly.

An Expert:
What was it like working with Jennifer?
It was great working with her. She’s really warm and generous. She also had a great sense of humor. I was thinking when I was hanging out with her one day, it would be great for her to find a great comedy. I don’t think people would actually see her that way yet, obviously because ofThe Hunger Games is so serious. She has a really great, dry sense of humor. We definitely laughed a lot. She’s a really great personality.
She’s starting out at just about the same age that you did, right?
Yeah, I did commercials and stuff. She was lucky. I think she got out of that stage of her career. She’s much more mature than I was, though. [Laughs] Much stronger, much more sure of herself. When I started out, I was very green, very unsure how to get my footing.

In an interview with TIFF Jennifer Lawrence said she wouldn't mind being known as Katniss Everdeen forever.
Did the Hunger Games mean a change in the roles you’ve been offered?
I didn’t really have any career expectations. I know that seems weird, but I’ve always been incredibly lucky, in that, the one script I read, that I fall in love with and I’m like, ‘I have to make this movie!’ or ‘I have to work with this director!’ — I’ve done it.
So that was such a rare, incredibly lucky thing that’s happened to me, that I wasn’t pining after these imaginary roles that I thought Hunger Games would satisfy. It was actually the opposite — I was afraid this one character would overpower the rest of my characters. But I genuinely liked the books and the movie and that character, and I wouldn’t be embarrassed to be known as that character for the rest of my life. Well, obviously, not only that character.

In an interview with the Washington Post Jennifer Lawrence talked about splitting Mockingjay in two parts.
Lawrence had reservations about breaking “Mockingjay” into two parts — “until I heard how much money I would be getting,” she said with a long laugh.
She said she initially thought it would be better to do the finale in a single film. When she got the news that it would be done in two parts, Lawrence was in the middle of shooting “The Hunger Games,” and she re-read the books and thought about how much had to be left out in adapting the first one.
“You want everything in there, but you don’t have enough room, and you’re trying to decide what’s going to get cut and what isn’t,” Lawrence said. “So it was a relief on the last one to know that we don’t really have to cut anything. We have enough time, we have enough room to really tell this story to the fullest, and we don’t need to cut anything.
“So that’s my artistic answer. It’s a very diplomatic answer. But what I’m really thinking is yacht, yacht. My own island.”

Entertainment Weekly has announced that the television show 'Community' will be doing a Hunger Games Tribute. Are you excited?
Joel McHale knows what you’re thinking. “Fans will see these pictures and go, ‘Dammit, they’ve tried to make this show mainstream! They’re trying to steal the Two and a Half Men audience!’” quips the Community star who plays Jeff Winger. “They’re going to be like, ‘What — is this an episode of The Middle?’”
That’s about as likely as, say, Dean Pelton entering a room in low-key fashion. Despite the exit of series creator Dan Harmon and the changing of the guard, Community apparently will still strive to be weird, surprising, and… you know, Community. In the season 4 premiere (NBC, Oct. 19), you will be treated to a parody of — or shall we say, tribute to — The Hunger Games. When the Greendale student records seem to be lost, the Dean (Jim Rash) stages a Hunger Games-like competition to determine enrollment in a class called The History of Ice Cream. (Which raises the question: There’s actually a class at Greendale called The History of Ice Cream? “Ice cream is something that people eat every day and they probably don’t know its origin story,” deadpans McHale. “F— you and your elitist I-don’t-need-to-know-about-my-frozen-treats-and-where-they-came-from attitude.”)
Jeff not only competes in the games, he even performs an elaborate tango with Dean Pelton, who dons multiple dresses in the episode. “He will repulse and arouse you all at once,” notes McHale. “Mostly repulse.” McHale also offers this tease about another part of the premiere: “It is an homage to something that kids in the late ’80s and early ’90s watched on Saturday mornings.”

The Hunger Games pitch trailer has been released. A pitch trailer is basically an official fan trailer used to pitch the movie idea to businesses and such.
Years ago, Fame and Mortal Kombat: Rebirth director Kevin Tancharoen went in and pitched his take on Suzanne Collins’ The Hunger Games. The film eventually went to Gary Ross and became a $400m+ success. I came across this video and Tancharoen has graciously allowed us to share it. Watch it now after the break. I also had an opportunity to chat briefly with Tancharoen about the process of pitching movies, how that process has changed, and the emergence of these mash-up trailer pitch reels, and that interview follows the video.

Donald Sutherland (President Snow) has been cast in the new show Crossing Lines.

Filming will begin September 26 on location in France and the Czech Republic. Bernero executive produces and serves as head writer, with Rachel Anthony (Mistresses) and Oliver Hein-Macdonald (The Passion Of Darkly Noon) set as co-writers. Moritz Polter (Labyrinth), Charles Caroll (Criminal Minds), Howard Griffith (Criminal Minds) and TF1 Production will handle production along with executive producer Rola Bauer, who developed the series with Bernero.
This marks the first series for Munich-based Tandem, a leading producer of event miniseries like The Pillars Of The Earth. It also marks the first Tandem project to go into production since the company was acquired by France’s Studiocanal earlier this year. Studiocanal deficit finances Crossing Lines, which Tandem will co-produce with TF1 Production in association with Sony Pictures TV Networks. It will air on TF1 in France and on Sony Pictures TV Networks’ AXN channels across 81 countries. (The series has no U.S. distribution yet.) “The world keeps getting smaller and crime less containable; it’s time that our criminal storytelling goes global, too,” CAA-repped Bernero said.

Woody Harrelson did a quick Q&A with the Huffington Post UK about Haymitch Albernathy.
Q: Could you briefly describe your character in The Hunger Games?
Haymitch is a mentor for the two characters who are going into the Games. He is grizzled and not exactly a teetotaller. In some ways he’s a little bit jaded, but under all that he is a wonderful person. To begin with, though, there is definitely a conflict with Katniss, the main character. That’s true. That is how it starts out.
Q: Haymitch looks like one of the most enjoyable characters to play…
I think he is a pretty fine character. I can’t think of any other character I have played like him. He is quite a unique character. Also he’s interesting because he’s one thing on the surface but then you find he is a little bit different, further down the road. He has that thing of people not being able to quantify him. I’m not sure if it required anything new of me as an actor. It is hard to say. You’re going to have to watch it and tell me the answer to that. Deep down there probably isn’t anything new [laughs]. It’s just me doing the same old sh*t!
Q: That’s not true! He’s not a very a social character, though, and does like a tipple. How did you pitch that into your performance?
That was kind of a discussion between Gary [Ross, the director] and I, because I always wanted to make Haymitch more drunk and debauched, but Gary wanted to keep a rein on it so that it wasn’t too much like that. In other words there are times when he had to get down to business so, yes, that had to be properly pitched. Me, I am always in general ready to go over the top with it, so it is helpful to have a director like Gary bringing me back.
Q: Presumably you got to inject some levity into the performance?
I certainly did. I tried and we will see if it comes off!
Q: What did you think of Jennifer Lawrence, your talented leading lady?
I think she is an amazing girl. She is incredibly funny. I was impressed with her wit. She is a fun-loving person, as is Josh Hutcherson. I know there’s going to be a lot of success for them in the future. I get a feeling that they’re going to be able to keep a handle on it and not change their personalities, though, as sometimes happens.
Q: Why do you think The Hunger Games books are so popular?
I think there’s something about the main character Katniss that everybody relates to. It’s really a story of survival and family and in that kind of way it speaks to everyone. Almost all the people I have talked to — those who have read the books — were profoundly impacted by them. Something resonates.
Q: Have your two eldest daughters read the novels?
Yes. They read the books. They loved the books.
Q: Has your casting in the franchise made you cooler with their friends?
No, I’m still the same old dirk to them! Everybody in my family started to read them when I decided to do the role, so we all got into the books at the same time and I think they are pretty psyched that I am in it. I will say there hasn’t been anything I have been involved in where I have had so many kids come up to me. Well, first of all, I have never done a movie that you could consider a kids’ movie but this has been incredible because I have been in different places all round this country and I have had kids coming up and saying, ‘Are you playing Haymitch?’ It’s as exciting as hell how kids are so into this movie.

Josh Hutcherson spoke with So Feminine about the Hunger Games. Below is an exert.
Why do you think the books are so popular? I think that the characters are really relatable in a lot of ways and people can find a piece of themselves in Peeta, Katniss or Gale.
It’s almost like: ‘What would you do if you were thrust into The Hunger Games?’
Plus there’s this cool futuristic world with an authoritarian government, which is intriguing to people, so to have a book that speaks to a younger audience that has such serious themes and real messages, I think is very gripping.

Tell us a little bit about your character Peeta?
Peeta is very similar to me. I have a very similar outlook on life, which is ‘maintain who you are as a person and no matter what the circumstance that you are in, never compromise that’.
I  feel we are very similar in that respect. I also feel he has a self-deprecating humour and that is my device as well. So we definitely have a lot of similarities.
Sounds like you connected with Peeta straight away?
When I read the book I had that connection with Peeta immediately, yeah. And the character drove me a bit crazy because I knew how badly I wanted the part.
But even as filming went on more and more I realized when playing Peeta how much I really am like him.
It certainly became a little weird and scary because I almost stopped acting and just started being myself and calling myself Peeta.
It’s funny, I sometimes feel that maybe I am more a collection of my character than my character is a collection of me.
Where were you when you found out that you’d been cast?
I was at my house in Los Angeles and we had been waiting every single day, calling my agent and my agent calling me.
So finally I got a call. I was standing in my kitchen and there’s my agent and my mom and my manager on the phone and they were like, ‘So you have got the offer of The Hunger Games.’
And my mind was blown. It was one of those things today that is hard to believe actually happened.
I have to pinch myself because I loved the story so much, but here we are.
You and Jennifer both hail from the same state, Kentucky. Did that make your chemistry easier to find?
Yeah, it‘s a not a huge state but there are a lot of us there!
But it was so weird that we are both from Kentucky, which is, funnily enough, kind of where District 12 is supposed to be. It’s loosely based in the hills of Kentucky.
There is a certain kind of understanding of the South and the same upbringing that we both had. We definitely bonded over that instantaneously.
In the screen test we talked about Kentucky and Kentucky Fried Chicken and rival basketball teams and all that stuff so there was very much a connection.
What are the defining characteristics of a Kentuckian?
I think there is a kind of hospitality thing that is understood like ‘Yes, ma’am’ and ‘No, sir’ and all that sort of thing, which I was very much brought up with.
Other than that, I don’t know. Most people I have met from Kentucky seem to have a pretty level head for the most part and seem to be well rounded.
I love being from there. It’s a great place to go back to and to be with my friends and family.
Have you engaged with any of The Hunger Games fan sites?
Sure. I think that is one of the awesome things — that people have the right to say what the hell they want to say.
For me I don’t go online all that much, not on Facebook or Twitter or anything like that, so the only time I use the internet is to look something up on Google.
Anybody I talk to on the streets or any fans that I meet in person I will talk to, though, for sure.
