Phillip Seymour Hoffman Rolling Stone Cover

In honor of Phillip Seymour Hoffman's life and passing, he was given the cover of Rolling Stone magazine. You can read more about this issue here.

At the beginning of this month, Philip Seymour Hoffman had two films in the can — Anton Corbijn’s thriller A Man Wanted and the crime drama God’s Pocket — and plans to appear in the next two Hunger Games films. He was preparing to star in a Showtime series, Happyish, and to direct Amy Adams and Jake Gyllenhaal in Ezekiel Moss. He was primed to launch into the next phase of his already-brilliant career. “He wanted to be done with playing the sad-sack loser, the guy who’s jerking off,” his close friend, the playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis, says.
But all those plans went to dust on Sunday, February 2nd. That morning, Mimi O’Donnell, Hoffman’s longtime partner and mother of their three children, texted David Bar Katz, another one of Hoffman’s playwright friends, because the actor hadn’t shown up to pick up their kids. Katz went to Hoffman’s temporary apartment, where he’d been living for a few months after falling off the wagon, two blocks away from his family’s home. That’s where he found a generation’s most brilliant actor — dead in the bathroom, a needle in his left arm.
Hoffman’s closest friends and colleagues remember the greatest actor of a generation in the new issue of Rolling Stone (on stands Friday), telling contributing editor David Browne intimate stories about an actor who “played those characters so well because he knew about guilt and shame and suffering,” as one friend said. Here are five revelations from the story:

Catching Fire DVD & Blue Ray Trailer

We now have a new trailer for Catching Fire's DVD/Blue Ray release! I for one cannot wait to get to see the deleted scenes.

'Mockingjay Part 1' Trailer Coming in April (Unconfirmed)

A rumor has been going around (thanks to Yahoo) that the trailer for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 will be given to us in April. Are you excited?

As the filming for the ‘Hunger Games’ movie ‘Mockingjay: Part I’ is ongoing in Georgia, fans are eagerly awaiting any sneak peek of substance from the third movie in the dystopian sci-fi series. So far we’ve seen a number of photographs from behind the scenes, devoured the odd snippet of gossip and actor sighting, and taken in the few locations in Atlanta where ‘Mockingjay’ production has been spotted.
But we won’t apparently have to wait too much longer for some actual live action, as it has just been leaked by the rumour mill that the first hugely anticipated ‘Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part I’ teaser trailer will appear in April. According to sources close to the production, we can expect to see this very early in April as well.
The rumours have been circulating on Twitter in the past 24 hours after a Tumblr site associated with the production apparently leaked the details. If the intention of the ‘Mockingjay’ production team was to keep this morsel of information relatively low-key then such a notion has already gone out of the window, with social media ablaze with the information.

Happy Birthday Elisabeth Banks

Lionsgate Executives Talk With Variety About The Hunger Games

Lionsgate executives talked with Variety about the Hunger Games.
With “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” having grossed $860 million worldwide, Lionsgate CEO Jon Feltheimer has underlined the studio’s focus on creating more franchises.
Feltheimer listed “Now You See Me,” “Mortdecai,” “Gods of Egypt,” “Chaos Walking” and “The Last Witch Hunter” as potential franchises for the studio during Friday morning’s call with analysts to discuss earnings for its third fiscal quarter ended Dec. 31.
Fueled by “Catching Fire” and “Now You See Me,” Lionsgate reported earnings after the market closed Thursday above forecasts at $88.8 million, or 64 cents a share. During the call, Feltheimer repeated Sunday’s announcment that the timetable for the release of the next two “Hunger Games” movies — “Mockingjay Part 1″ on Nov. 21 and “Mockingjay Part 2″ on Nov. 20, 2015 — will remain unchanged despite the death of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman.
The actor played the part of the gamesmaker Plutarch Heavensbee.
“We were fortunate to have his incredible talent grace our Hunger Games family,” Feltheimer said Thursday. “We send our deepest condolences to all who were close to him.”
The CEO said that the two “Mockingjay” films are being shot at the same time. “Director Francis Lawrence is taking advantage of the expanded world of Mockingjay to create compelling action set pieces designed to bolster the franchise’s growing resonance for international audiences, and both chapters will wrap this summer,” he added.
The CEO noted that another Lionsgate’s franchise will launch in six weeks with “Divergent,” based on the first book in Veronica Roth’s three-novel series and starring Shailene Woodley. He noted that the decision to move “The Hunger Games” movies from March to November was made for two reasons — getting the “Hunger Games” films in the prime holiday periods, and to open up the March slots for the “Divergent” films.

Phillip Seymour Hoffman Entertainment Weekly Cover

Phillip Seymour Hoffman was featured on the cover of Entertainment Weekly, in honor of his recent passing.
The sudden death by apparent overdose of actor Philip Seymour Hoffman stunned Hollywood and left his family, friends, and colleagues shattered. In this week’s cover story, EW pays tribute to Hoffman, widely considered the greatest screen and stage actor of his generation.
Film critic Owen Gleiberman traces the arc of the Oscar-winning actor’s tragically curtailed career, exploring his ability, in role after role, to plumb his own depths to bring often deeply flawed characters to vivid life and to “lay bare the things that make people tick” — an emotionally wrenching process that clearly took a personal toll on the actor. We look back at Hoffman’s 10 most essential film performances — including his acclaimed work in movies like Capote, Doubt, and Boogie Nights, as well as lesser-known gems from throughout his career — and look ahead to the various projects he was working on at the time of his death, including the final installments in the Hunger Games franchise.
